Vet Centers
VA provides readjustment counseling to any veteran who served in the military in a theater of combat operations during any period of war, or in any area during a period in which armed hostilities occurred. Vet Centers are small community-based facilities that provide a holistic mix of counseling and community social services, psychological counseling for veterans exposed to war trauma to include post-traumatic stress disorder, family counseling when needed for the veteran’s readjustment, community outreach and education, and extensive case management and referral activities. The Vet Centers are located in the community, outside of and not connected to the larger medical facilities. |
