Change of Command

Capt. Mike Lovas returns salute as he assumes command of the unit on Aug. 15, 2014 during a Change of Command ceremony held at Camp Ripley, Minn.
Unit Information

Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC) is a Minnesota National Guard engineer unit located in St Cloud, Minn.  It is comprised of many Military Occupational Specialties (MOS) that provide support to the 682d Engineer Battalion headquarters by fostering an environment in which the battalion commander and staff can command and lead the battalion.

To do this, HHC Soldiers establish and support a Tactical Operations Center, a hub to filter all information and track troop movements.  They provide and support communications so units can share information, they provide medical care for Soldiers and many other needs to ensure command and control in the operational environment.

HHC is also prepared to support its domestic mission by providing the State of Minnesota with troops capable of assisting local authorities in a disaster response such as a flood, tornado, or lost person search.  Additionally, HHC provides personnel to the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and high-yield Explosives (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package (CERFP), a force trained, ready and able to respond to support local, state, and federal agencies managing the consequences of a major event by providing mass decontamination, search and extraction, medical triage and personnel recovery.

The motto of the 682d Engineer Battalion is BATIRE ET COMBATTRE, or translated, "TO BUILD AND TO BATTLE!"
