Unit Information

The Regional Training Site Maintenance is Minnesota's home for professional military education.

The RTS-M provides regional Ordnance, Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) and Additional Skill Identifier (ASI) training for the Army National Guard, the U.S. Army Reserve, and the Active Component in order to prepare the Minnesota Army National Guard and other units to deploy at maximum readiness levels. We will support the 34th ID transformation and the Global War On Terror (GWOT) as directed by the J3.

The commander's vision is to develop and maintain the highest rated Regional Training Site Maintenance in the nation. The site is a proud historic unit that has built a legacy of excellence through hard work and dedication. We must continue to work hard to preserve this great site and to create a lasting legacy. We will focus on the future, looking for opportunities that will add lasting value to the Minnesota Army National Guard.

The Regional Training Site-Maintenance system was established in response to HQDA Management Action Plan for RC Support Unit Capability Enhancement, 14 June 1983 to "align, document, train, and equip RC non-divisional maintenance companies." Originally termed Regional Maintenance Training Site (RMTS), the school in Minnesota was forecasted to open at Camp Ripley in FY 89. Ground was broken for the current site on 2 May 1989 and construction continued throughout 1989, while classes were being conducted in the former site of the Combined Support Maintenance Activity on the south end of Camp Ripley Cantonment.

The Minnesota RTS-M was established in its modern facility in 1990. Since then, we have trained thousands of Soldiers in the maintenance and logistics arena. The Regional Training Site-Maintenance at Camp Ripley provides a number of courses and services for the U. S. military.

The original RTS-M building had 5 classrooms, a 9,000 square foot shop area made up of 10 maintenance bays, a training device lab, an engine test cell, a library, and office space. In 2002 the building was expanded by 3000 square feet, adding two classrooms and increased office spaces.

All Army schools are subject to an accreditation process every three years. In June of 2015, RTS-M MN was accredited with a rating of "Institute of Excellence," the fourth consecutive IOE rating, acknowledging more than 12 years of outstanding maintenance and leadership training.
