Lineage
Originally flagged as the 1256th Medical Company (Air Ambulance) on 01 September, 2002, C Co. transitioned from elements of an AH-1 Attack Helicopter Battalion flying AH-1 Cobras to an Air Ambulance Company flying UH-60s in less than 15 months, completing almost unit-wide MOS reclassification training.
Activated for CONUS deployment and deployed in January, 2004 only 15 months after inception, C Co performed medevac support over 5 different active duty Army posts: Fts. Hood, Bliss, Carson, Riley and Sill, coverage formerly performed by 3 air ambulance companies deployed overseas. In the air within 10 minutes of first call, C Co performed numerous life-saving rescues, evacuations and patient transfers over its 18 months on deployment, returning home in June of 2005.
Redesignated/reconfigured as C Co (AA), 2-211th Avn in October of 2005, C CO. continues to conduct realistic training in both aeromedical evacuation, rescue hoist operations and state active duty tasks (such as fire fighting with water buckets or search and rescue operations) as they await the next call to serve their state or country where needed.
