Chief Master Sgt. David Speich, 133rd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, was selected as the new Command Chief for the 133rd Airlift Wing. The announcement was made by Wing Commander, Col. Greg Haase at the Minnesota Air National Guard Base in St. Paul on Dec. 15, 2007 and will take effect in March 2008. The Command Chief works directly for the Wing Commander and is the advisor for issues related to the enlisted force.
He replaces Chief Master Sgt. Bruce Graham who just eclipsed his 40-year mark of service to the Minnesota Air National Guard.
“One of the most often asked questions I get asked by young Airman is how to become Command Chief,” said Chief Master Sgt. Bruce Graham. “It was a tough selection process and I tell them to be the best at what you do now; be the best aircraft mechanic, be the best cook, whatever your job is focus on doing your best in the now.”
Chief Master Sgt. Speich comes from the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at the 133rd Airlift Wing where he serves as the Equipment Repair Chief. Chief Speich has participated in numerous deployments to include Operation Desert Shield, Operation Provide Relief to Somalia, Operation Provide Comfort II to Turkey, Operation Joint Forge, Operation Phoenix Oak, Operation Joint Guard to Bosnia, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
