Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ewer
Public Affairs Journalist
Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ewer developed his interest in photography and journalism when he accepted a position as a Unit Public Affairs Representative for the 6th Material Management Center, US Army Reserves in Arden Hills, Minn. in 1998.
Upon transferring to the Joint Force Headquarters of the Minnesota National Guard Ewer performed as a Public Affairs Specialist. He earned his journalism qualification at the Defense Information School at Ft. Meade, MD during the attacks of 9/11.
He served the Public Affairs Office as a traditional weekend National Guard Soldier until the floods of 2006 when he was called to full time service to document the Minnesota National Guard's efforts to combat this emergency.
Ewer lead the 34th Combat Aviation Brigade's Public Affairs team in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from July, 2008 to May, 2009. It was an event during this deployment, Minnesota Hockey Day, which earned the Minnesota National Guard Public Affairs Office its second Emmy Award.
His previous assignments include working as an Visual Information Specialist for the Aviation Brigade of the 101st Airborne Division, Ft. Campbell, KY and the 13th Psychological Operations Battalion in St. Paul, MN.
Ewer's civilian education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts earned at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul and plans to persue a Master of Fine Arts degree at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.
