- Mobilized at least 20 months of a 730 day Mobilization Order and returns to traditional drilling status. Receive $894 (FY07) Rate per month.
Soldiers who have more than a 4 year commitment left to the Reserve Component will be entitled to the full “3 year rate” of $1075 for full-time enrollment.
- Up to 36 Months of full-time Benefits.
Benefit can be used while a traditional drilling Guard member and eligibility is retained for 10 years after an Honorable separation from the qualifying active duty/mobilization service as long as the Soldier has remaining entitlement.
Additional Contribution
In addition to the $1200, all CH30 eligible Soldiers have the option to make additional contributions from $20 to $600 (this is called Plus-Up) in order to increase their monthly benefits. For example, if you invest $600 you receive an additional $150 per month as a full time student. Add this $150 increase to the full-time rate of $894, and your monthly check would be $1044 for up to 36 months. Each $20 incremental contribution above the initial $1200 increases your benefit rate by $5 per month as a full-time student.
This program DOES NOT BENEFIT SOLDIERS PLANNING TO EXHAUST THEIR CHAPTER 30 BENEFITS WHILE ON ACTIVE DUTY STATUS. If you plan to save your Chapter 30 GI Bill until after you separate or are a traditional drilling soldier, Plus-Up could be a good decision.
