Minnesota National Guard
Training
Law Enforcement Agency Training

Since 1992, free or reduced cost, P.O.S.T. approved, specialized training has been offered to police personnel through the Minnesota National Guard Counterdrug Program. Courses can be taught at Camp Ripley, near Brainerd, and other military facilities state and nationwide. Mobile training teams also can travel directly to police agencies. An example of some courses include, Clan Lab Certification, Investigation and Interrogation, Basic Spanish, Counterdrug investigation, firearms, and explosive familiarization.

Counterdrug Supported Courses-  The Minnesota Counterdrug Program will host or co-host courses with law enforcement agencies.  All courses are free of cost for the training.  Sometimes a low fee may be charged to pay for housing and food for a course at Camp Ripley, as we may not use our funds to do this.  Many of these courses are MTTs from the Counterdrug Schools or are co-sponsored with the BCA or other agency.

Resident Courses
- The Counterdrug Program currently has 4 schools that provide on-site training free of cost.  Additionally, most schools will provide free housing and meals while attending a course.  The regional school for Minnesota is the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center (MCTC), however, you may attend courses at any school.

Resident counterdrug courses are available at all of the Counterdrug Schools along with other Federal programs that provide counterdrug courses.  However, the closest Counterdrug Program schools are the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center at Camp Dodge, IA, the regional school for Minnesota, and the Northeast Regional Training Center extension school at Volk Field, WI.  Almost all schools provide courses free of charge and most provide free housing and meals for the students.

Most Counterdrug Schools will export courses to the state Counterdrug Programs or other agencies as requested and as budget and personnel allow.  These courses are usually provided free of cost or low cost depending on the course.  Some schools will provide free housing and meals for students traveling from outside the area that the course is being conducted.  The Minnesota Counterdrug Program will work with your agency to bring MTTs to your agency.
