GENERAL

The Minnesota Army National Guard Simulations Center is located at Camp Ripley.  The Simulations Center is responsible to the Minnesota Army National Guard Plans, Operations and Training Officer (POTO) for providing simulations support to units.  The POC is the Camp Ripley Assistant Operations Officer at DSN 871-7633 or Commercial (320)632-7633.

JANUS

JANUS is a command and control simulation system.

• Designed to train platoon through brigade commanders and staffs
• A real-time battle simulations that matches unties against a threat force under realistic conditions
• JANUS allows units to train and evaluate command and control procedures within their organization

The POC is the Camp Ripley Simulations NCO at DSN 871-7460, commercial (320) 632-7460 or at dma.state.mn.us/cpripley/index.htm

Engagement Skills Trainer (FATS IV)

Interactive video simulator designed to aid Soldiers in the development of basic marksmanship
and combat engagement skills. Developed by Firearms Training Systems (FATS), the EST has the
ability to provide a multitude of training scenarios which include: basic rifle marksmanship (qualification
range), vehicular ambush, squad tactical training, military operations urban terrain (MOUT), and various law enforcement training scenarios. The current system uses air to provide the simulated recoil
in the weapons systems. Weapons supported include; M16A2, M249, M9, M60, MK 19, M203, AT-4, 4.2 Mortar and M2. The system has twelve lanes, which makes it ideal for training a squad of Soldiers or a tactical law enforcement team.  Camp Ripley has upgraded to the FATS IV system. The POC is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595 or commercial (320)616-2709.

MACS

The Multi-purpose Arcade Combat Simulator is a Super Nintendo Arcade style single screen M16 marksmanship training aid. It gives you the realism of firing at real time targets and gives you feedback utilizing the four fundamentals of marksmanship. The system offers the individual basic instruction, grouping and zero scenarios and also practice and record fire M16 ranges at various skill levels. A great tool for Preliminary Marksmanship Instruction. The POC is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595 or commercial at (320)616-2709.

WEAPONEER

The Weaponeer is capable of simulating all of the BRM live fire scenarios without firing rounds. Immediate feedback is available for critiquing the Soldier's application of the integrated act of firing while using the Weaponeer device to include misfire procedures, and the four fundamentals of marksmanship.
1. Steady Position
2. Proper Aim (Sight Picture)
3. Breathing
4. Trigger Squeeze
The POC is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595 or commercial (320)616-2709.

GUARD FIST II

GUARD FIST II is a computer-based simulator that projects images of various impact areas.  Targets are then superimposed on the image and Soldiers practice calls for fire.  Round impact is shown on the screen and Soldiers adjust fire using standards fire commands.  The system will accept grid, polar, and shift missions.  In addition to standard suppression and fire for effect missions, Soldier can also practice smoke and illumination missions.  The POC is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595, commercial (320)616-2709 or dma.state.mn.us/cpripley/index.htm.

MOBILE CONDUCT OF FIRE TRAINER (MCOFT)

MCOFT is available in both Tank and Bradley versions.  It is a computer-based simulator that trains crews in target engagement and fire commands.  The POS is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595, commercial (320)616-2709.

ARMOR/BRADLEY FULL CREW INTERACTIVE SIMULATOR (A/B FIST)

The AFIST/BFIST allows you to train crews or platoons using the actual vehicles.  The AFIST/BFIST is located in newly built building which allows for classrooms and AAR facilities.  Four (4) Tanks or 4 Bradley's can be inside and operated at one time.  A 1/2 scale range is located next to this facility so crews can train using TWGSS allowing crews to make a natural progression in their training towards live fire.  The POC is the scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595, commercial (320)616-2709.

SIMULATION NETWORK (SIMNET) M1 TANK

SIMNET is a system of combat vehicle simulators linked to each other over a local area network.  Camp Ripley currently has a Platoon Set, but can tether by computer simulation up to a battalion-sized force to it.  Computer generated imagery is used to create the illusion of riding in a tank fighting force on force.  Recording gives the Platoon leader the scheduling capability to play back the scenario and providing effective AAR's.  The POC is the Scheduling NCO at DSN 871-7595, commercial (320)616-2709 or at dma.state.mn.us/cpripley/index.htm.
