Camp Ripley Hosts Governor’s Cup Race
The eighth annual Governor’s Cup Ski Race at Camp Ripley was held on
Saturday, February 3, 2001, attracting more than 300 skiers. The race,
which is described as the premier cross-country ski race in Minnesota open
to the public, was
a fund raiser for the Hole-in-the-Day Nordic Ski Club in Little Falls. The
event includes a 44 Kilometer race for the Governor’s Cup, a shorter 25
Kilometer Ripley Loppet, and a 12 Kilometer Tour. All first and
second place finishers in both the Governor’s Cup and Ripley Loppet
received awards. The top male and female in the Governor’s Cup Race
received a replica of the Governor’s Cup Trophy. Their names are
engraved on the trophy which is displayed at the State Capitol.
